PA charter schools get fewer state dollars than other public schools. To change that, school choice advocates are demanding a new education funding formula that provides to charters the same amount of money other schools receive from Harrisburg for expenses such as facility maintenance and upgrades. A study by the University of Arkansas Department of Education Reform found students of PA charter schools receive 32%, or $5,844,  less funding than pupils enrolled in traditional district schools. A coalition that includes state Rep. Seth Grove, R-York, Philadelphia Charters for Excellence (PCE), the Pennsylvania Coalition for Public Charter Schools (PCPCS) and other groups, is challenging lawmakers to adopt a more equitable formula. Read More Here
