School Reform Commission of The School District of Philadelphia approved 3 of 12 charter school applications, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania ruled to limit the power of the SRC. West Philadelphia Achievement Charter Elementary Schools has been struggling since 2011 with the limit of enrollment of only 400 students. When renewing their charter the school wanted to expand in student enrollment to 700, but the school reform commission has not allowed this. Without the constitutional authority to control charter school policy, many of the SRC’s actions in recent years could be subject for reversal.  Click here to read article
