Thousands of parents are choosing to pursue a charter school education for their children even as debates continue among school boards and state legislators. Jessica Hickernell, spokeswoman for PennCAN, an organization that advocates for school choice options in PA says, “It’s purely luck that your child is going to get into a charter school…But parents are seeing that their district schools aren’t meeting their kids’ needs,” Hickernell said. “They’re making an extra effort to get their kid into a charter school.”
